I hold a PhD in electrical engineering and have spent about twenty-five years on signal processing and communications systems. Three patents. I focused on high-speed data transmission and reception across moving and stationary platforms.

My career has run in three arcs.

Digital communications. Wireless and wired systems for consumer and government products — algorithm development and implementation, inter-process and inter-processor communication, port and device control, data routing, and system integration. I also ran factory and site acceptance testing to verify contract compliance.

Hearing aids. A return to my audio roots, developing feedback cancellation algorithms for digital hearing aids. I worked alongside firmware engineers to get those algorithms into shipping products, and with audiologists running listening experiments to confirm the product held up with real subjects.

Back to communications. The current work — high-speed data on platforms that move.

Across all of it, the pattern stays the same: I work at the seam where an algorithm meets the hardware that has to run it. That means talking to firmware engineers, test teams, marketing, and customers as much as writing the algorithm itself.
